I gained my MA qualification in person-centred experiential therapy from Liverpool John Moores University . (Read more about person centred counselling here).

That's where I can help.  I offer a non-judgmental space where we can build a relationship based on trust so you can feel supported to talk about any issues that concern you. Counselling/Therapy and more

Andrew Stafford (currently not taking on new clients)

Hey, I'm Andrew and I'm a person centred counsellor.

As you're reading this post it may be that you're considering taking some action to make some changes for yourself. I understand how difficult a decision it can be to show vulnerability and ask for help. What I've witnessed many times is how this initial vulnerability can lead to positive real world changes and immeasurable personal growth. I promise to support you on this challenging yet ultimately rewarding journey.

The nature of person centred counselling means that it's you who is always in control of what you want to talk about. I can offer you a safe, supportive and confidential space to do this where we will work towards building a trusting relationship which can lead to you understanding far more deeply what you may be currently experiencing emotionally.

Initially I offer a free 20 minute session over the phone, during this I can answer any specific questions you may have, we can discuss what has brought you to look for a therapist and what you're hoping to gain from the sessions. Most importantly you can also decide whether you think I am a suitable person to help you, as it is the client/ counsellor relationship which is most important for successful outcomes to be experienced.

There is no obligation to continue after the initial free 20 minute session, that decision is yours to make. If you do wish to proceed, we can discuss what intervals of session you would prefer, either weekly or fortnightly. These sessions will last for 60 minutes.

I'm a registered member of the BACP and I adhere to their ethical way of working. I'm in regular clinical supervision and I hold professional and public liability insurance.

Sessions cost £45 per hour, with concessions provided for those on low incomes, unemployed, students and counselling students.

Thank you for reading through this information. I hope it has given you some clarity on what I can offer you.

Some examples of issues that I have experience working with are:

● Loss and bereavement

● Stress

● Anxiety

● Depression

● Suicidal thoughts

● Low self-esteem

● Relationship issues

● Work related stress

Annie Watkins

As a qualified integrative therapist, respect is at the centre of my beliefs. I fervently believe that an individual, no matter who you are, should have the arena in which to be heard, without prejudice, without judgement, and with compassion. Our inclusive space will be one of confidentiality, trust and a pace that you feel able to go at, and my hope is that we will work to resolve, or at least identify, some, if not all, of the reasons that you've decided to reach out.

To my mind, there is no 'one-size-fits-all' in therapy, and with my client at the centre of my practice, I will listen, hear, and proactively adapt to your needs, with you, right next to you.

I'm under no illusion as to how difficult it must have been for you to recognise your own needs, and to begin to put yourself first - even this might be hard for you to read - but the courage you've shown, just by looking on this site, needs recognition and encouragement to go one step further as you invest in your own future: I hope to hear from you.

Calum Owen

Diploma in Transactional Analysis – from an Integrative Perspective (Post Graduate Level 7) 2022, Philosophy BA (Hons) 2017

Hi there, I’m Calum and I provide Psychotherapy and Counselling services. Healing and inner work is something I have been passionate about and have had a deep interest in for many years. It is my belief that we can always continue to learn, grow in awareness and this process can be fulfilling and transformative. My approach is integrative in that I draw from many teachings and schools of thought and don’t identify solely as a Transactional Analysis practitioner. I firmly believe that therapy can be painful, rewarding, can bring about confusion and a multitude of things can come up for us as we work through our own issues. For this reason, I feel strongly that reaching out to talk to someone for many people can be difficult and understand that the process may not be easy. However, through our work together I feel you have the potential to grow, develop, heal and work towards achieving your goals. Whatever it is that you bring, I am committed to supporting your growth and healing and I can offer a safe relationship for you to work towards whatever it is that brings you to therapy. Therapy provides a time and space for reflection, exploration, support and understanding that we may not readily have in our day to day lives.

Areas of particular interest:

*Depression and low mood * Anger and Shame * Grief and loss *Food and nutritional issues *Inner child work *Past Trauma and PTSD *Spirituality *Drug and alcohol issues *Criminality *Existential crisis and a search for meaning and purpose *Work and education issues *Issues affecting Men *Abuse and neglect *Suicidal ideation *Relationship and family issues

Before arranging a session, I offer an initial 20-minute session over the phone free of charge to discuss what moving forward may look like, and for you to ask any questions about therapy or our potential work together.

I charge £50 an hour for face to face sessions and am also able to work online or over the phone for £45 an hour. I also work with couples and charge £65 for a 1hr session. For those with reduced income or in financial hardship, I do offer a sliding scale with limited places subject to further discussion. Payments to be made using cash or bank transfer. I have flexible working hours and have availability Mon-Fri between 9am-8:30pm, and work on Sat 9am-1pm.

I am a member of BACP and UKCP and work in adherence with both organisation’s ethical framework. I am in regular clinical supervision and have professional and public liability insurance.

Catherine Daycock Hypnotherapy

About Me

I originally gained a degree in Criminology and Sociology and a Masters in Cultural Policy and Management, then went to work in the Financial Industry. So it was a real departure to leave all that behind and retrain to be a hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner. But am I so glad that I took that plunge as it is a really rewarding and interesting career!

I have my Diploma in Hypnotherapy, one in NLP, specialist diplomas in Gastric Band Hypnosis and Smoking Cessation, TFT and EFT, and am currently working towards my Diploma in Advanced Hypnotherapy. I have also branched out into Hypnobirthing, please see the page on Hypnobirthing for specific information! For all other treatments, see the ‘Treatment’ page for details of the issues I cover, although the list is not definitive, so if you don’t see what you are looking for, please contact me as I may still offer it.

As a hypnotherapist

I combine evidence based, proven hypnotic and NLP, CBT and ACT techniques, as well as EFT/TFT (tapping) to offer a unique service to best suit your needs and help you tackle your issue(s), which will greatly improve your quality of life. Hypnotherapy and hypnosis have been surrounded in myth but I ensure I use techniques and strategies that are rooted in scientific evidence. I will work with you to achieve the best possible results and all I ask is that you come with an open mind and a readiness to ‘go with it!’ I believe hypnotherapy can only truly get effective results if the therapeutic journey is a collaborative one, where the client takes on an element of agency in their own therapy. I have won a number of awards and have even been published in a Hypnotherapy book (available through Amazon) so check out my ‘Qualifications and Awards’ page for further details

As a real person …

I am a single mum with two young boys. Other than hypnotherapy, I am totally obsessed with True Crime – be it documentaries, books, podcasts – I’m fascinated!! I eat, drink and breathe it! I also enjoy crafts (when I get the chance) and have started gardening in the last couple of years so in the summer I try to get the entire front of my house is covered in flowers!

For many years I have really struggled with anxiety and panic attacks. It got so bad in 2012 that I was unable to work, go anywhere or do anything. It was a struggle to even go to the local shop. Whilst I didn’t go to a hypnotherapist to help with this (oh I wish I had known then what I know now!) it has given me a very real understanding of how debilitating such an issue can be, but also the knowledge that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Conor Mulholland

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Society (UK) and Public Health England.

I work with children, adolescents, young adults and adults, with debilitating anxiety, low mood, depression and low self-esteem.  I understand the devastation these metal health issues can have on the individual and their families. I know what you are going through. I can help.

As a school teacher/Director of Learning, for sixteen years, I witnessed the difficulties many children and young people face.  A great many of our children and young people find themselves depressed,  unhappy, filled with doubt, anger and anxiety.  They find themselves frustrated, “stuck” and seemingly unable to find a direction, or move on to the next stage of their precious lives.   This is a personal tragedy for them, and an immeasurable loss to our society as a whole.  I became a psychotherapist in order to help young people and adults in such situations.

As a fully qualified psychotherapist/counsellor, I will help you,  or your loved one, achieve a better quality of life. As well as offering proven professional expertise, my practice is based on honesty, compassion, patience and equality.

I am a pluralistic therapist which enables me to offer a variety of evidence based treatment directions and enables the client to find a direction he/she is most comfortable with.  Above all, I will listen and work collaboratively with each person in order to help them improve how they feel about themselves, and the world in which they live.

Please feel free to contact me by email: conorjohnmulholland@yahoo.com or mobile phone: 07851742910.

The first consultation (by telephone) is free of charge.

I am available to work online or face to face.

Each session is charged at £50.

Linda Mooney

Background

I am a BACP-accredited counsellor with over 20 years of counselling experience. I have a Master's Degree in counselling from Chester University. I currently work with NHS staff whilst also seeing clients in my private practice. I have counselled both young people and adults in a variety of organisational settings, which included educational and youth settings, GP surgeries, NHS Staff Support, Addiction Management and Recovery. I hold a certificate in IPT, (Interpersonal Therapy), which can help clients to think about how they relate to others and their relationship with themselves.

I am also a certified Couples Counsellor, having trained with WCTI in Couples therapy and can offer couples who may be struggling with relationship problems a safe space to work through their issues. Helping them to move towards more transparent open ways of communicating and the possibility of deeper intimacy.

My Counselling  Ethos and How I Work

I initially trained as a person-centred counsellor and these humanistic values still essentially underpin the way I work. Over the years my experience and training have led me to adopt a more integrative/pluralistic style of practice. This means I will work collaboratively with the client to decide on the method that is best suited to their individual needs and the issues they present with.

Whilst there are times when life can be difficult, I hold the belief that given the right conditions, we are all capable of creating more of what we want and becoming more of the person we want to be. I feel passionate about and committed to helping the clients I work with fulfil their potential and move towards a life that is aligned with their true desires.

I have an interest in the relational aspects of being. Pain and trauma can be a consequence of the damage done through early relational experiences. In turn, this can affect how well we can relate to others and value ourselves.

We are all different, and I am conscious when working with clients that a different skill set or approach is needed depending on the person and the problem they are working with. Some people will want to explore issues that are rooted in childhood, whilst others may want a more goal-oriented way of working that is centred on the now. At the same time, it may be that the client has experienced a loss, and will want the space to talk, grieve and try and make sense of this.

Moreover, there will be clients who need a combination of all of the above and this can be negotiated between us early on in the counselling sessions. Though you may not feel you know at this point; this is also OK, because we can figure this out as the therapy progresses.

I offer a safe and confidential space where you can explore the reasons that have brought you to therapy, and help you to make the changes you want to make. Sessions can be face-to-face at my Aigburth practice, or if it is more convenient for you we can do them via the internet or phone. I work both long-term and short-term with clients and this can be agreed upon at the beginning of the sessions or as the counselling progresses.

Issues I Work With

Below is a list of some of the issues that I work with, though this is not an exclusive list and I will generally work with whatever the client wants to look at in the sessions.

Fees

HOW I WORK

Research shows that good counselling depends on the quality of the therapeutic relationship. That’s why I offer Person-Centred counselling, based on evidence that empathy and care make a good relationship and help you to grow. I work to create a confidential, safe place to experience compassion for who you are and help you find a new outlook on life.

Maybe you’ve always felt there was something wrong and now the time has come to talk to someone. This might be the right time to work with a counsellor with life experience who won’t judge you and will take your problems seriously.

WHY PERSON-CENTRED COUNSELLING CAN HELP

Person-Centred Counselling is about nurturing personal growth rather than feeling stuck. The aim is to help you to have a healthier perspective on yourself and accept that life has highs and lows. It is part of being human to experience the whole range of emotions; what matters is how you process them.

If I can tune in to your inner world and get close to what your experience is like, we can explore together how you have got to this place. That’s good for opening up to change because if someone else understands you, it makes your experience feel more real. You may then feel able to step back and see it with new eyes. Exploring your inner life in this way can be thought-provoking and liberating.

I aim to work with clients as unique people, rather than being defined by normative concepts of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religion, disability or appearance. I work with awareness that there are labels and disorders, but I also have a genuine interest in each client’s unique way of being.

Martin Poole (currently not taking on new clients)

When was the last time you felt truly understood?

I am an honest, compassionate counsellor offering the kind of down-to-earth no-nonsense

approach I would have appreciated when I attended therapy. I was a sceptical client, now turned

therapist, so I have some idea of what you might be feeling.

I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor (PG Diploma - level 7). I believe you will have

been trying to deal with life in the best way you can, but sometimes we all need help. I listen

carefully to understand your unique circumstances and we work together to fulfil your needs and

give you the ability to make positive choices in life.

I work with a whole range of issues but I have a personal interest or unique experience in the

following specific areas:

● Anxiety & depression

● Separation & divorce

● British boarding school system

● Childhood sexual abuse

● Bereavement and loss

● Anger issues

● Health anxiety

● Loneliness

● Alcohol and drug use and abuse

● Weight issues

● Suicide

I offer complete flexibility in terms of length and frequency of appointments. Like most

therapists, I am happy to offer regular weekly sessions, but I also understand that a more

flexible approach may be needed by some clients. Appointments can therefore be fitted in with

both of our schedules, can be held in person or online, and session length can vary between 50

minutes and 2 hours (charged on a pro-rata basis).

● 50 mins - £50

● 60 mins - £60

● 90 mins - £90

● 120 mins - £120

I am happy to provide short or long-term therapy to adults. I am a registered member of the

British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I have regular supervision and

undertake continued professional development. I am also fully insured and hold a current DBS

certificate.

I personally believe, many people will benefit from counselling, if they are willing to explore their limitations, barriers, or vulnerabilities in order to achieve a  more fulfilling outcome.  By  helping individuals to understand their difficult experiences, along side the feelings and emotions attached to it.

This process can be empowering, by enabling the client to work towards changing their lives to become more fulfilled.  It takes great courage and strength to accept help, in addressing mental and emotional traumas/issues.

This can be achieved by work collaboratively with the therapist, in a secure and safe environment.  That enables individuals, to explore their vulnerabilities towards achieving better sense of self etc.

Tracy Jane Rand

Psychotherapeutic Counsellor & Outdoor Therapist

In Private Practice

Some years ago, I found myself in a very unhappy, unhealthy and difficult place.

I had Psychotherapeutic Counselling – one of the best things I have ever done.

During my therapy I got on well with my therapist, we had a very good connection. I was not and did not feel judged or shamed.  I was provided with a safe, comfortable and non-judgmental space to be able to be me. I was supported through my journey and eventually I found my true and peaceful self.

Now, I find myself in a very good and happy place, enjoying life.  I enjoy what I do.

I have been a Qualified Nurse for over 38yrs.

I decided that I wanted to give something back.

I took a Post Grad Dip Course in Psychotherapy and TA (Transactional Analysis.) I still do the odd shift for Nursing. This year (2023) I will retire from the NHS as a Nurse.

I am concentrating on my new venture as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor in Private Practice and as an Outdoor Therapist.

I undertook outdoor therapy sessions in my own therapy and as part of the course that I have completed.

I enjoy the outdoor space and getting in touch and learning about who and what we share our beautiful planet with. I have a great interest in outdoor eco therapy.

I have been seeing clients now for nearly 4yrs. I love my job. I love meeting people and helping them to get to where they want to be. I find it very humbling, therapeutic and rewarding.

I care about every human being’s mental health, regardless of who they are.

Everyone matters. Everyone is important. Everyone is worthy.

I have trained at the Red Kite Training Centre Liverpool. RTC

I have gained a Post Grad Dip in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

I am a member of the BACP, UKATA, NMC

I am fully insured.

I continue to undertake further Education and CPD so I can endeavour to offer my clients the best service possible.
